Before you arrive

Book a beginner-friendly or social session — they're slower paced and marshals spend more time helping new players. Most fields include a marker, mask and a starter amount of paint in the session price.

Wear long sleeves, trousers and trainers or boots with grip. Layers help: you'll warm up fast once games start.

  • Long sleeves and trousers
  • Shoes with good grip
  • A hoodie or extra layer
  • Water and a snack

The safety briefing

Every session starts with a briefing. The one rule that matters most: your mask stays on whenever you're inside the playing area — no exceptions, even if it fogs.

Marshals will show you how to use the barrel cover, how to call yourself out and what the field's minimum shooting distance is.

Five things first-timers wish they'd known

Ask any regular and you'll hear the same advice:

  • Move between cover — standing still is how you get hit.
  • Talk to your team. Calling out positions wins more games than aim.
  • Hits sting for a second, then you forget about them.
  • Don't empty your hopper in the first minute.
  • Have fun — nobody expects you to win your first game.

After the game

Rate the session in the TACPLAY app and join the field's community chat — it's the easiest way to find your next game and players at your level.
